Our Mission

Our mission is to provide support and education to families of domestic violence through advocacy, counseling, and treatment programs. We are committed to empowering families to rebuild healthy relationships. Using education and the collaboration of community resources, we raise awareness of the issues surrounding domestic violence to ensure victims are acknowledged and heard.

Because victims often seek medical help for injuries sustained in domestic violence, we provide education to health care associates. Health care workers should know how to recognize the signs of abuse and create safe environments where patients feel safe and comfortable. Our services, including crisis intervention, counseling and support, are offered to families of abuse. We work with community partners to hold offenders accountable for their behavior and teach ways to stop the cycle of abuse.

What began as a hospital-based educational program, evolved into a group of services that includes clinical, hospital and community programs. We partner with other community anti-violence programs such as Solutions Center and ASTOP. In addition, we are members of the Fond du Lac Coordinated Community Response Team (CCR), the CCR subcommittees of the Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART), and the Prevention Education Committee (PEC).

The Domestic Violence Services program provides much-needed help to families in need of our aid. Our services include:

  • Legal advocacy
  • Medical advocacy
  • Case management
  • Counseling/therapy
  • Safety planning
  • Support groups
  • State Certified Batterer’s Treatment Program
  • Prevention education
  • Internship program

Our interns have the opportunity to help provide support to victims of domestic violence and assist our associates as requested. The role of an intern varies depending on the needs of the program. Interns will typically have the opportunity to shadow associates, give community presentations, and observe support groups.
