Childbirth Education - Madison, WI

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - Madison is offering the Childbirth Education Birth Experience - Madison Delivery class both in-person and virtually. Please check the location of each class listed below to determine if the class is held online or at the hospital.

Part 1 - Understanding Birth eClass Modules
Online modules which provide education about the childbirth process. 

• Access information when, where and how you'd prefer
• Share information with your partner and support people
• Learn with videos, quizzes, and extended activities
• Get organized with tools, planning checklists, and trackers
• Modules are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Arabic, Japanese, and Chinese.

Once enrolled in the online class, you have access to the material for nine months, so you can go back and review as often as you'd like. It takes about four to six hours to complete the class.

Part 2 - Instructor-led Class

This session provides an opportunity for expecting parents to spend time with the SSM Health Childbirth Educators, either in-person or via a virtual platform, prior to the delivery of their baby. Key concepts from the "Understanding Birth" eClass modules will be reviewed and an overview of the birth experience at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - Madison will be provided.

• Virtual class: 2 hours in length
• In-person class: 3 hours in length
  • Opportunity to practice positioning
  • Optional tour of birthing and postpartum units

We ask that participants complete the eClass modules prior to attending the instructor-led class. Also, please bring any questions as time will be allowed during class for discussion.

Registration Details (PLEASE READ):

Register for the instructor-led class that you would like to attend (either virtual or in-person). Once registered, you will receive an email within 5 business days which will include the link and redemption code to access the Understanding Birth e-Class. Approximately 1 week prior to class you will be emailed a calendar invite which includes details for the instructor-led class.

• Register only one person. Your registration includes yourself and your support person(s).
